Limited Capacity full

Self-care is a critical component for educators and school staff, but where to start and how to maintain it? Being aware of the need for managing the daily stress of working in schools is only the first step. Knowing about how various states – including burnout and vicarious traumatization – impact your productivity, enthusiasm, and connectedness can help reframe the experience of stress. Self-compassion approaches can help with following through on a self-care plan. In this workshop, we’ll discuss different levels of stress reactions, share a self-assessment, discuss strategies for and challenges related to stress reduction and self-compassion, and experience brief mindful and creative activities for self-care. Attendees will learn how to balance helping demands with educator or staff requirements while remaining engaged and connected with their role, their students, and their school communities. This workshop will also be responsive to the group's needs and content can be modified based on participants interests.
